Student Chokes, Spits On Girl After Stealing Cell Phone At Maryland HS: Sheriff

A student at a Maryland high school is facing multiple assault charges after allegedly stealing a girl's cell phone and attacking her, according to the Charles County Sheriff's Office.

Officials say that at approximately noon on Wednesday, may 3, a male student at St. Charles High School took a girl's phone and refused to give it back, and when she attempted to recover it outside the building, he got physical with her.

It is alleged that when confronted by the girl, he grabbed her throat, choked her, and spat on her. 

She reported injuries and had to be treated by a school nurse after the incident.

A School Resource Officer assigned to the high school applied for a warrant and the teen was arrested and charged with: 

  • First-degree assault;
  • Second-degree assault;
  • Malicious destruction of property.

The incident remains under investigation
